Mayor Michael Wolfe, Sr., February 12, 2013 Public Hearing

Hempstead Texas Mayor, Michael Wolfe, spoke powerfully as did many others at a public hearing in the Waller County Courthouse on February 12, 2013. Over 1,000 citizens marched from Hempstead City Hall to the Waller County Courthouse to demonstrate to elected officials that the people of Waller County strongly object to the siting of a huge landfill less than 2 miles from that very courthouse itself. Three members out of five of the Waller County Commissioners Court voted to proceed with the landfill against the wishes of the vast majority of their citizens. Litigation is pending and the outcome of this battle is yet to be determined. This is far from a done deal.
